South Land Park at street level
In May 2024 the Sacramento City Council designated South Land Park Hills Unit Number 7 a historic district, protecting 49 buildings that Joseph Eichler built here with Moss and Moss in 1955 and 1956, designed by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons. Post-and-beam construction, low-pitched roofs, plywood cladding, glass walls opening onto the back yard, curved streets. These are Sacramento's only Eichlers. Streng Bros. houses by Carter Sparks turn up elsewhere in the area. Around them sits a much larger stock of 1940s through 1960s ranch homes on wide lots. Belle Cooledge Library anchors South Land Park Drive at 5600, Reichmuth Park handles the soccer, Sacramento Executive Airport hums along Freeport Boulevard, and Lake Crest Village at Florin Road covers groceries.
Who comes in from South Land Park, and what for
The design-minded owner is the natural patient here. Someone in their forties or fifties who has restored a kitchen correctly, looks in the mirror, and notices that the front teeth do not hold up to the same standard. That usually turns into replacing dark amalgam with tooth-colored fillings, whitening first and matching afterward, and in some cases veneers on the upper front six. There is also a large group of original owners in the ranch tracts who need crowns and gum care.
