Midtown at street level
Midtown runs from 16th Street east to Alhambra Boulevard, with the northern edge near B and C Street and the southern edge at R or W depending on which map you trust. It is a walkable grid with named alleys behind the lettered streets, a system the city formalized after 2006 so every alley shares a first letter with the street to its north. Jazz Alley sits behind J. Housing ranges from 1880s Victorians through Craftsman bungalows and 1920s courtyard apartments to recent infill. Pockets carry their own names: Lavender Heights at 20th and K, the Handle District around 18th, 19th and Capitol Avenue, plus Marshall School, New Era Park and Newton Booth. Households here skew small and adult, with a median age near 37 and bachelor's attainment above 57 percent.
Who comes in from Midtown, and what for
Midtown patients usually arrive as adults on their own rather than as a carload. Many rent, work in state offices, healthcare, hospitality or design, and moved into the neighborhood in the last few years without a dentist attached to the move. The common asks are a cleaning and exam to restart a lapsed schedule, whitening or porcelain veneers before a wedding or a work milestone, Invisalign for people who never had braces as teenagers, and night guards for grinding. Emergency visits happen too, often a cracked filling that started aching over a weekend.
