Boulevard Park at street level
Boulevard Park was laid out in 1905 on the old Agricultural Park fairgrounds and Union Park racetrack, which is why it does not read like the rest of the grid. Twenty-first and 22nd Streets were built one hundred feet wide with sixteen foot landscaped medians and Canary Island date palms at the intersections, the only medians of their kind in the central city. The subdivision runs from B or E Street south to I or J between 16th and 24th, and the National Register district listed in 2011 covers roughly three hundred buildings. Styles run to Colonial Revival, Classical Revival, Prairie, Foursquare and Craftsman, with larger houses on the south side near the old H Street trolley line and smaller bungalows on the north side by the railroad. Grant Park sits on 21st Street, and the 1877 Governor's Mansion anchors 16th and H.
Who comes in from Boulevard Park, and what for
Households here split between people who bought decades ago and stayed, and younger professionals renting flats carved out of the big early century houses. That split shows in what people need. Longtime owners come in for dental crowns, bridges, dentures, root canal treatment and gum health care, often after a dentist they used for years retired. The renters want cleanings, tooth-colored fillings, teeth whitening and Invisalign. Both groups tend to show up as one or two adults rather than a full family van, which suits shorter mid-morning appointments.

Transit, bikes, and parking from Boulevard Park
Route 30 picks up on J Street five blocks south of the medians and runs east to J and 33rd. The closest light rail is Alkali Flat/La Valentina on the Blue Line, seven tenths of a mile west. Driving, J Street is one way eastbound here, so the usual line is east on G Street, south on 29th, then left onto J. It is a little over a mile door to door, with the patient lot off 33rd.
